But you also need to take care of your own emotional well-being and let your children spend some time away from you.

A whopping 60 percent of Americans say a child is better off with at least one parent at home, according to Pew Research Center’s Social and Demographic Trends. Another 35 percent said kids are just as well off with both parents working outside the home.

Whether you work or stay home, stop feeling like you’re failing as a parent. Societal pressures make moms feel like they can’t win if they’re carrying a diaper bag all day and they can’t win if they’re carrying a briefcase all day.

When it comes down to it, research is research and only what’s best for you and your family matters. It’s true not everyone has the luxury of choosing between staying home or working but research can’t tell you exactly what’s going on in your family. Make a decision that’s right for you and don’t worry about what strangers, your neighbor or your mother-in-law think.
